Summary

Shel Silverstein, the New York Times bestselling author of The Giving TreeA Light in the AtticFalling Up, and Every Thing On It, has created a poetry collection that is outrageously funny and deeply profound。 Come in。。。for where the sidewalk ends, Shel Silverstein's world begins。 This special edition contains 12 extra poems。

You'll meet a boy who turns into a TV set, and a girl who eats a whale。 The Unicorn and the Bloath live there, and so does Sarah Cynthia Sylvia Stout who will not take the garbage out。 It is a place where you wash your shadow and plant diamond gardens, a place where shoes fly, sisters are auctioned off, and crocodiles go to the dentist。

Shel Silverstein's masterful collection of poems and drawings stretches the bounds of imagination and will be cherished by readers of all ages。 This is a collection that belongs on everyone's bookshelf。 Makes a great gift for special occasions such as holidays, birthdays, and graduation。

And don't miss Runny Babbit Returns, the new book by Shel Silverstein!

I read this book as a child and I loved it。 In fact, I read several of Shel Silverstein’s books。 Now, as an adult who still enjoys reading children’s books, I didn’t enjoy this one as much。 It is dark humor which he is famous for but perhaps my tastes have changed because I find it too dark for me and I would not hand it to my children。

Where the Sidewalk Ends is one of my favorite poetry book that I have read。 I remember reading it over and over again when I was in elementary school because the poems and illustrations were so fun to read。 This book would be a great way to introduce poetry to your class and show the many different ways that poems can be written。

This is the updated edition that adds an additional 12 poems from Silverstein to the original edition。 I read it each semester with my students as the introductory piece to our poetry unit。 It allows them to see that poetry can be fun and interesting rather than the stuffy material they have seen in the past。 I recommend this as a tool to all teachers who are looking for a piece to use in a poetry unit for their students regardless of the age they are。Silverstein does an excellent job with his w This is the updated edition that adds an additional 12 poems from Silverstein to the original edition。 I read it each semester with my students as the introductory piece to our poetry unit。 It allows them to see that poetry can be fun and interesting rather than the stuffy material they have seen in the past。 I recommend this as a tool to all teachers who are looking for a piece to use in a poetry unit for their students regardless of the age they are。Silverstein does an excellent job with his work! 。。。more

This book of poetry is more so to get readers to start thinking of what the meaning of the words。 Though there are poems that are telling a story, there are other poems that get you to have to think about what the words may mean。

I love this book the poems are easy to read and the pictures are super cool and weird。

How can one bear the conundrum of existence? Laugh at it while you cry and don't take what's eating you seriously。 This isn't always possible; but in many situations, it is our only hope。This collection of poems and masterful sketches is a case in point。 How can one bear the conundrum of existence? I adored The Giving Tree, so I thought I'd enjoy this, but I had no idea how much。 If you're feeling nostalgic or foolish, or if you want to expose your children to poetry that will make them laugh and sing, this is a terrific poetry book for you。 'Where the Sidewalk Ends' is one of seven poems by Shel Silverstein that many generations have loved reading。 His poetry are timeless masterpieces that make people of all ages laugh, with poems to which all youngsters may identify。 "Hug O' War" was my I adored The Giving Tree, so I thought I'd enjoy this, but I had no idea how much。 If you're feeling nostalgic or foolish, or if you want to expose your children to poetry that will make them laugh and sing, this is a terrific poetry book for you。 'Where the Sidewalk Ends' is one of seven poems by Shel Silverstein that many generations have loved reading。 His poetry are timeless masterpieces that make people of all ages laugh, with poems to which all youngsters may identify。 "Hug O' War" was my favorite poem since smiles and embraces are universal gestures in many languages。 Hug O’ WarI will not play at tug o' war。I'd rather play at hug o' war,Where everyone hugsInstead of tugs,Where everyone gigglesAnd rolls on the rug,Where everyone kisses,And everyone grins,And everyone cuddles,And everyone wins。 。。。more
